Many people will tell you that they are hesitant to cook with rice because it is so difficult to perfect. This makes cooking rice a daunting task, but with a few helpful tips, you could be making the perfect yellow rice in no time! Our Vigo Yellow Rice has helpful directions written on the bag, but if you incorporate our tips with these directions, you will be famous for your rice before you know it! Some people like their yellow rice dry while others like it stickier, so you will eventually learn how to tweak the recipe to your liking. Start with the following things:
- Once you have stirred the rice and covered, do not remove the lid! This is the most common rice cooking mistake. Removing the lid lets the steam escape, resulting in undercooked rice.
- For more flavors, try using other liquids such as broth. Half chicken broth and half water works great.
- The cooking time for rice is very important. If possible, try using a pot with a clear lid so that you can keep a better eye on the rice. This way, if the water has been absorbed, you can tell that the rice is done cooking even though your timer might not have gone off yet.
- Choose a pot large enough so that the uncooked rice is no more than two inches deep.
